The History of “Go M.A.D.” at Northwood

“Go M.A.D.” was inspired by the late Pat Riepma, who spent more than 22 years as a part of the NU athletic department.

From the football program’s head coach to athletic director, Pat was a kind and humble servant-leader. He was a man who knew it took a team to accomplish anything worthwhile, yet impacted people one person at a time. In doing so, he taught us each and every day to “Go M.A.D.” … To Go Make a Difference!

Upon Pat’s passing in 2015, his wife Sherri continued the manta of ‘making a difference’ at Northwood and beyond by serving as the University’s Parent Program Coordinator and creating the annual Go M.A.D. Golf Outing.

Pat and Sherri’s passion for life and their desire to impact people inspired by “Go M.A.D.” day, a campus-wide day of service where students, faculty, and staff volunteer to meet the needs of the Greater Midland Area. We remember them fondly.
