The purpose of the Research Recognition and Reward Committee is to support Northwood University staff and faculty who have contributed substantively to the recognition of Northwood University through publication or other forms of scholarship dissemination. This recognition will be in the form of honoraria as well as acknowledgment in our various internal publications. Submissions for consideration in this program are reviewed by a committee of four faculty representing various disciplines as well as undergraduate and graduate perspectives.
Honoraria are based on scope of contribution with consideration for national, regional and local impact. Submissions will be considered in 4 week batches with awards published in the Northwood Idea as well as other media when appropriate. In determining the level of honoraria, the committee will consider the type of publication or channel, audience, the publication or media that published the submission) and the reach of the publication or media).
Tier 1 Recognition ($350 Honoraria): Examples of Tier 1 recognition may include such things as publication in highly recognized journals, an article or role as primary source for a national news story, or having the opportunity to act as key note speaker or main session provider for a nationally recognized academic or trade conference.
Tier 2 Recognition ($250 Honoraria): Examples of Tier 2 recognition include publication of a peer-reviewed journal article, participation in a regional news story through article or interview, or speaking at a recognized academic or trade conference.
Tier 3 Recognition ($150): Tier 3 recognition allows the committee to recognize research and representation of Northwood in those channels that may be more recognized locally or within a small audience. This might include being the primary research presenter at a small conference, the publication of an op-ed or article in a smaller news story or being interviewed by local media.
The Research Recognition and Reward program will operate from July 1 to June 30. For this year, we encourage you to submit any publication or activity as explained above that has occurred since July 1, 2020 for consideration.
